‘Team Excel’ Receives Award From Salvation Army

The Salvation Army of Pekin hosted their Red Kettle Recap Breakfast on Friday morning, January 26th at their facility. At the event, local citizens and businesses were recognized for their efforts during the 2017 Red Kettle Campaign for bell ringing. Excel Foundry & Machine received the award for the Volunteer Group to Ring for the Most Hours. Excel employees and their friends/family volunteered 56 hours over six Saturdays from at Pekin Schnuck’s, Kroger, and Walmart during their campaign. Mike Heine (Director of Marketing) led this challenge and accepted the award on behalf of the company.

Team Excel took in nearly $3000 in kettle contributions and the company matched an additional $2000 for a total contribution of close to $5000! This money raised will continue to help enhance the social outreach performed by the Salvation Army of Pekin through feeding programs, services for children, and operating the Rust Transitional Center (the only homeless shelter in Tazewell County).

Way to go, Team Excel!
