Facility Tour Importance at Excel

Emphasis on positive business culture and commitment to the highest quality of product are two cornerstones among the core values of Excel Foundry & Machine. Therefore, Excel strives to be proactive when it comes to educating visitors about company culture and the quality processes that have been carefully built over 86 years. Facility tours put the spotlight on both Excel’s dedicated employees and products, and are one of the best ways Excel communicates culture and quality.

When Excel clients and distributors can actually see and speak with a machinist working on a component, or talk with an assemblyman on the spot, they get to see that the quality products they’re buying are made by real people, right here in America’s heartland. The power of communicating in a hands-on environment, where visitors are able to have their questions answered precisely and quickly, is truly impressive and leaves a lasting impact that no brochure or video can compete with.

While on facility tours, clients (both potential and current) have the ability to speak with leadership from every department, and even visit the in-house engineering and metallurgy labs. Mike Sammis, Excel’s Warehouse Manager, knows that most people do not realize the varying career opportunities available within a manufacturing company, and says, “tours are a great way to expose this and to show the diverse skills and great attitudes of our employees.”

Clients aren’t the only visitors with access to a tour of Excel, however. Area students and prospective employees are given tours as well when circumstances call for it. Jim Batterton, Manufacturing Manager, understands the importance of leaving an impression, no matter who comes through the facility. “Whether it’s a customer or a high school student, the impression we leave is a reflection of who we are as a company,” Jim says.

Excel’s facility is always in excellent condition and when anyone goes on a tour they’re most assuredly going to leave impressed. Steve Stewart, Director of Human Resources remarks, “I always hear very positive comments from visitors about our people, who do such a great job of interacting with visitors and customers alike.”
