Excel to Hold Open House Highlighting Expansion

After 18 months and $24 million, the expansion of the Excel facilities is nearing completion. In order to boost production capacity and employee growth, a 121,000 sq. ft. Warehouse/Processing Center, a 16,000 sq. ft. addition to the foundry, and a nearly 11,000 sq. ft. corporate office facility have been constructed. Excel has also invested millions of dollars to add several state-of-the-art machining centers.

First announced in January of 2012, this expansion project has already proven valuable to Excel. Besides greatly increasing our production capacity, a benefit to our community comes through increased opportunity for employment. Estimated to create up to 100 new jobs at Excel when the project was announced, some 70 new employees have joined the team since the beginning of the project.

In order to facilitate the growth, nearly $2.5 million in local, state and federal funds were allotted to improve nearby roadways. Roads and intersections were widened and repaved to accommodate heavy truck traffic coming to and from our facility and other nearby businesses. Phase two of the road expansion project is scheduled to begin in 2014.

On Thursday, June 6th, Excel will open its doors to the local business community to showcase the new facility. We are expecting hundreds of guests to come tour our new facilities. Many regional lawmakers, including Illinois State Senator Darin LaHood and Illinois State Representative Mike Unes plan to attend.
