Excel’s Facilities Used For Veterans Job Workshop

Excel’s facilities were used recently to hold a workshop for Veterans interested in the manufacturing industry. Organized and sponsored by the Department of Veteran’s Affairs, this career exploration event aimed to connect veterans with local area manufacturers. while this event was not so much about hiring veterans on the spot, it was focused on providing information and resources to help with a smooth transition into the manufacturing industry. Veterans were able to hear first hand from local employers like Caterpillar, Parsons Manufacturing and Evonik Goldschmidt Chemical Corporation, regarding the skills they are looking for and the training they provide. With over 30,000 manufacturing jobs available in Illinois, events like these are invaluable. In all, close to 50 veterans attended the Pekin, Illinois event. This was not the first of its kind, and officials are encouraged about holding more in the future.

Check out what Peoria Public Radio said about the event.
