Excel Receives “Growth and Innovation” Award

Earlier this year, Excel set into motion a $15 million plan to expand the Pekin plant. This plan involves the creation of a 100,000 square foot processing plant, expanding the foundry and office, and improving the infrastructure of the nearby roads. This major expansion will nearly double Excel’s capacity. While helping Excel maintain a thriving business model, this growth will also provide the Greater Peoria Area with an estimated 100 new job opportunities in manufacturing and engineering.

In recognition of this, the Economic Development Council for Central Illinois has awarded Excel with the Growth and Innovation Award for Tazewell County. This award recognizes a company that makes significant contributions to its community and demonstrates success and growth. The recipients are judged on innovative technology, competitive advancement, community leadership, economic diversification and regional expansion. The award, sponsored by Commerce Bank, was given to Excel during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, October 3, by the EDC Interim CEO Cal MacKay and Commerce Bank President Brent Eichelberger.
