Excel is offering a proprietary manufacturing method for producing a Chromium Carbide Overlay Wear Plate known as XL750. All of the alloys used in manufacturing of XL750 are custom blended, enabling quality control from start to finish, ensuring you receive the finest product available. XL750 sets the industry standard for controlling abrasive wear. XL750 is a Chromium Carbide Overlay Plate consisting of a Hypereutectic Matrix with up to 60% Chromium Carbides metallurgically fused to an appropriate steel substrate. This large amount of hard chromium carbides allows XL750 to thrive in environments of extremely high abrasion.
The hardness of a XL750 overlay is a composite of hard chromium carbides (1750 Vickers), interspersed in a tough, austenitic matrix. The macro-hardness of the overlay is 55-62 Hrc, depending on the thickness of the overlay.
The surface of XL750 is very smooth and flat, which creates a surface with very low coefficient of friction. This makes it a great solution for applications where material hang-up and sticking are an issue.
XL750 has a very even and controlled penetration line for minimal dilution and maximum adhesion between the overlay and substrate.
Excel uses a mild steel substrate for all stock plate. This allows the overlaid plate to be formed into complex shapes and gives it a unique ability to absorb impact.
