Excel Wide Path™ Undercarriage Featured in Peru

Excel is partnering with ZAMine Peru at the Perumin Mining Convention – September 18-22. The goal at this biannual event in Peru is to showcase the latest mining technology and provide effective solutions for those in the South American sector. Excel will be showcasing our Engineered Innovation – the Wide Path™ Undercarriage for P&H® 4100™ Electric Rope Shovels. Karol Lucas and Billy Maccini are coordinating the show for Excel.

story ph wide path 640 300x212 Excel Wide Path™ Undercarriage Featured in PeruSince its first article was installed in 2013, the Wide Path Undercarriage has proven to be successful for Excel customers. This innovative system is designed to reduce and evenly apply pressure to the roll path of the shovel increasing the life of its rolling components and significantly extending undercarriage life.

Some key advantages are:

  • Improved Component Design
  • Eliminates “Toenailing”
  • Minimized Maintenance
  • Increased Reliability

What is “toenailing”? Metal from track pad material is forced to the outer edges of the roll path. This “material flow” builds up over time and must be trimmed to avoid contact from track pad to track pad. It is labor intensive and causes significant downtime that can be avoided with Excel’s product.

Initial installations have documented a 26% increase in expected machine hours and customers have experienced nearly 50% in cost savings for replacement parts and maintenance. Technical Support Director, Dave Eagan, states, “The extended life and low maintenance of the Wide Path undercarriage is proving to be a big bonus for our customers. To have a product perform so exceptionally well is evidence of Excel’s desire (and ability) to WOW the customer.”

Regional Manager – International Sales, Karol Lucas, has worked with ZAMine in identifying key companies at Peruvian mine sites that operate P&H 4100XPB™ and P&H 4100XPC™ shovels. Excel also distributed a market survey and an electronic invitation to visit us at ZAMine’s booth to learn more about our Engineered Innovation – as well as Excel. We look forward to some direct booth activity as our invitees take time to discuss this new undercarriage system and consider it for their operations.

Following the Perumin show, the Wide Path Component Display will make it’s way to Mexico for the Convención Internacional de Minería (CIM) in Guadalajara. That show runs from October 25 – 28 and Excel is partnering with AMSU de Mexico for that face-to-face marketing event.
